Reclaiming the essence of science: Reconciling open infrastructures and initiatives
Dr Arianna Becerril, Executive Director of Redalyc and co-founder of the Network of Diamond Open Access Journals, and a Professor based at the Autonomous University of the State of Mexico. She is also the President of AmeliCA Conocimiento Abierto S.C, and co-founder of Red Mexicana de Repositorios Institucionales (“Mexican Network of Institutional Repositories”), advising the formation of the Open Access national legislation in Mexico. She is a leading voice in global discussions on open access and knowledge sovereignty. Her keynote will reflect on how to reclaim the essence of science through inclusive, community-led open infrastructures. Drawing on Latin America’s leadership in non-commercial, scholar-led initiatives, she argues for a shift away from market-driven models towards approaches rooted in epistemic justice, public good, and regional equity.
