STI-ENID2025 themes

We have received so many brilliant abstracts for this year's STIENID2025 conference that we wanted to share with you their themes and excellence.  However, instead of the straight-forward description, we decided to lighten the tone and get Gossip Girl reporting on this year's conference.

Spotted!

A glittering crowd of abstracts strutting their stuff as submissions to the 2025 29th Annual Science and Technology Conference (STIENID2025).  The oldest conference bringing the newest findings from the intersection of science, policy, and power. But don’t let the polished academic prose fool you — underneath the surface, it’s all about influence, alliances, and impact, impact, impact. And you know I’m here for all the drama.

The word among the research elite? It’s not just about doing brilliant science anymore. It’s about getting noticed — and fast. It’s about playing the game — early citations, media buzz, policy mentions… if your work isn’t making it into government reports or headlines, are you even doing science?

Now let’s talk money — the original power play. These abstracts lift the curtain on how funding schemes shape who gets to shine. Productivity? Innovation? Please. It’s all about the funding pipelines, the hidden metrics, and which gatekeepers hold the purse strings. Transparent and effective? That’s the dream. But right now? Think more smoke and mirrors than crystal clear.

Oh, and the humble conference poster? Once the wallflower at the academic ball, now getting a high-tech makeover. Thanks to AI and altmetrics, these non-traditional outputs are starting to earn their place in the research spotlight. Don’t underestimate a scrappy poster with good data and the right hashtag.

Speaking of AI — it’s the guest everyone’s whispering about. Reshaping research, boosting output, brokering cross-disciplinary flings. But while some are thriving, others are being left behind. Inequality, meet your latest algorithmic upgrade.

Open science is still trying to be the benevolent queen — transparency, data sharing, reproducibility, the whole moral high ground. But let’s be honest: the infrastructure’s patchy, the policies inconsistent, and discoverability? More like hide-and-seek.

Mentorship, meanwhile, is the quiet power behind the throne. These abstracts say a good mentor doesn’t just teach you to publish — they teach you to play the long game. Integrity, open practices, a bit of career matchmaking… research culture is built one coffee chat at a time.

But just when you think the academic world is all lab coats and lecture halls, boom — enter geopolitics. Global events are shaking up who’s publishing, who’s collaborating, and what’s even considered credible. Authorship is shifting, and open access is mutating to meet the moment. Resilience? Yes. Predictable? Not a chance.

Collaboration is the name of the game, but not all partnerships are created equal. These abstracts are calling out tokenism and pushing for equitable alliances. Because in the age of global science, exclusivity is so last season.

Then there’s the interdisciplinary darlings — superconductivity, synthetic biology, and all their shiny, complex challenges. Cutting-edge science needs more than a killer research question. It needs teamwork, vision, and the occasional reality check.

And finally, what would science be without a bit of scandal? From retractions to bias, and the rise of public accountability via social media — the days of hiding behind peer review are over. Welcome to the age of open critique, where even Nobel hopefuls get ratioed.

So, what’s the verdict? The research world is evolving — fast. Only the bold, the transparent, and the collaborative will thrive. Science isn’t just about discovery anymore. It’s about influence, ethics, and knowing how to own the narrative.

Stay curious, stay clever.

You know you love me.
